Biographical Text
born in Nether Bogside, near Ecclefechan, Dumfriesshire, married a labourer at Loudon Castle named John Richmond, a widower 20 years her senior, with five children. Little demonstrated a keen interest in Robert Burns, sending him a letter and rhyming epistle. The parodic appropriation of Standard English through Scottish mimicry is foregrounded within the bilingual text of Little’s Poetical Works.
